An examination of the utility bearing characteristics of occupations: A factor analytical approach

    Abstract

    This paper examines the utility bearing characteristics intrinsic to occupations and their effect on wages. A factor analysis finds that occupational characteristics can be summarized by a fewer number of underlying factors. This research identifies four factors which significantly influence wages.
