Analyse du différentiel de performances scolaires dans les pays PASEC sur la base de la régression quantile contrefactuelle

Abstract

Le développement humain s'apparente à la liberté de réaliser le plein potentiel de chaque vie humaine. Notre étude décompose le différentiel de performances scolaires dans l'optique de trouver les éléments clivants pouvant être éliminés afin d'assurer l'objectif d'apprentissage pour tous dans les pays PASEC. L'analyse statistique révèle que l’écart de performance est grand selon le milieu de résidence ou le type d’école. Les estimations portent sur la régression quantile inconditionnelle (contrefactuelle) du modèle de Firpo et al. (2018). L'estimation des fonctions d'influence recentrée suivant chaque distinction montrent que les ressources scolaires agissent variablement sur les quantiles. Les effets positifs portent davantage sur les élèves faibles. En décomposant, nous trouvons que l'effet composition explique mieux le différentiel de scores par rapport à l'effet structurel selon le milieu ou le type d’école. Suivant le genre, l'effet caractéristique prime uniquement en lecture. La décomposition contrefactuelle révèle qu'une éventuelle permutation de caractéristiques entre les groupes entrainerait une baisse de l'effet caractéristique selon le type d’école et une hausse de cet effet selon le lieu et le genre. Agir davantage sur les ressources scolaires permettrait de lutter contre les écarts de performances et de relever le niveau d'apprentissage des plus faibles.
