Elección del gas natural como combustible para cocinar en Lima Metropolitana

Abstract

En la presente investigación se evalúa la creciente elección del Gas Natural por parte de los hogares de Lima Metropolitana como combustible para cocinar. Para tal objetivo se emplea información de la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares para el periodo 2004 al 2018 y se estiman modelos Logit Multinomial de manera sucesiva. A partir de dichos modelos se estimó el efecto de un incremento del ingreso en la probabilidad de emplear un combustible distinto para cocinar (Hipótesis de la Energía Líder). Los resultados obtenidos muestran que a partir del 2014 un incremento del ingreso de los hogares que cuentan con Gas Natural reduce la probabilidad de emplear otros tipo de combustibles para cocinar. En contraste, entre el 2004 al 2010 los hogares que empleaban kerosene presentaban un efecto ingreso positivo, es decir, un incremento en sus ingresos aumentaba la probabilidad de emplear otros combustibles para cocinar.
