US-Präsidentschaftswahl: Wo die US-Wirtschaft am Wahltag steht

Abstract

Wenige Stunden vor dem Ende der Präsidentschaftswahl in den USA steht die wirtschaftliche Erholung des Landes im Zuge der Covid-19-Krise auf wackeligen Beinen. Zwar deuten einige Vorlaufindikatoren auf eine weitere Expansion der US-Wirtschaft im Herbst 2020 hin. Doch die im Oktober erneut rasant gestiegenen Infektionszahlen gefährden die sich abzeichnende Stabilität und erfordern ein gezieltes Vorgehen, um die Virusausbreitung einzudämmen. Die Präsidentschaftskandidaten werben jeweils mit unterschiedlichen Ansätzen, sowohl im Umgang mit der Virusausbreitung als auch in der Wirtschaftspolitik. Ihre Stellung als Exportzielland Nummer eins für die deutsche Wirtschaft dürften die USA unabhängig vom Ausgang der Wahl bis zum Ende des Jahres 2020 jedoch verlieren.
