De la universidad al trabajo en tiempos de crisis: Experiencia, antigüedad y conocimientos adquiridos

Abstract

Investigaciones recientes sugieren que las crisis económicas provocan un cambio en la función de demanda de trabajo de las empresas en favor de trabajadores con habilidades directamente productivas. Utilizando datos de la encuesta a graduados de AQU-Catalunya analizamos los efectos del ciclo económico sobre los ingresos y la adecuación del puesto de trabajo en tres cohortes de individuos que se graduaron en el sistema de universidades públicas de Cataluña entre los años 2004 y 2010. Las estimaciones indican que durante la reciente crisis económica se produjo una caída media del 20% en el nivel de ingresos y del 4% en el índice de adecuación. Asimismo, la evidencia obtenida apunta a que durante las depresiones económicas se incrementa el valor de la experiencia laboral, la antigüedad en la empresa y los conocimientos adquiridos en la universidad. Recent research suggest that in downturns the labor demand curve changes, firms choose to hire direct productive skills workers. Using data from the survey of graduates AQU -Catalunya we analyze the effects of the business cycle in the on career outcomes from three cohorts of individuals graduated in the Catalonian public university system between 2004 and 2010. During the recent economic crisis estimates indicate an average fall of 20 % in the wage level and 6% in adequacy ratio. Also, the evidence obtained suggests that during economic downturns the value of work experience, seniority and the return of skills increases. Palabras clave: Mercado de trabajo de titulados.
