Estimation des effets de l’éducation sur le revenu agricole : cas des ménages agricoles du milieu rural de l’Inde

Abstract

Dans ce chapitre, nous revisitons la relation entre l’éducation et le revenu agricole dans les zones rurales des pays en développement (PED) en utilisant à la fois une approche théorique et une approche empirique. Les résultats de l’approche théorique ont permis de mettre en évidence que l’éducation affecte le revenu agricole à travers ses effets sur l’adoption des nouvelles technologies. Une validation empirique de ces résultats a été effectuée en s’appuyant sur des données d’enquête collectées auprès des ménages vivant dans le milieu rural de l’Inde. Les résultats obtenus avec cette approche ont permis de constater que l’amélioration du niveau d’éducation du chef de ménage d’une année se traduit par une augmentation du revenu agricole engrangé par le ménage de 3,58%. Par ailleurs, une extension de cette étude a permis également de savoir qu’une amélioration du niveau d’éducation du chef de ménage d’une année entraine une amélioration du bien-être des membres du ménage de 1,3%.
