Cambio tecnológico y catching up: el sector de distribución eléctrica en América del Sur

Abstract

El objetivo principal de este trabajo es analizar la evolución del cambio tecnológico en el sector de distribución de energía eléctrica en América del Sur, en el período 1994-1997. Para ello estimamos una frontera de producción estocástica con máxima verosimilitud. Entre los resultados obtenidos cabe resaltar que no existe evidencia de catching-up en el sector. Además, existe evidencia parcial de que los países que realizaron la reforma en el sector han tenido una evolución tecnológica superior a los restantes. Como parte de este patrón de diferenciación, se encontró que un incremento en la participación del capital en los países que realizaron la reforma y un incremento en la participación del empleo en los que no la realizaron.
