Die Forschungspotenziale der Betriebspaneldaten des Monatsberichts im Verarbeitenden Gewerbe

Abstract

Die Industriebetriebe erwirtschaften knapp ein Viertel des deutschen Bruttoinlandsprodukts. Der Monatsbericht für Betriebe des Verarbeitenden Gewerbes sowie des Bergbaus und der Gewinnung von Steinen und Erden stellt für diese Betriebe eine Reihe wichtiger Daten bereit. Seit Ende 2006 ist dieses Datenmaterial, aufbereitet als Panel für die Jahre 1995 bis 2004 (und für 1995 bis 2002 ergänzt um die Angaben industrieller Kleinbetriebe), für ganz Deutschland in den Forschungsdatenzentren der Statistischen Ämter für Wissenschaftler zugänglich. Dieser Beitrag zeigt an drei Beispielen die Forschungspotenziale dieser Paneldaten für die Aufdeckung von empirischen Fakten, die statistische Überprüfung von theoretischen Hypothesen und die wissenschaftliche Politikberatung auf.
