IMK Inflationsmonitor - Kraftstoffpreise dominieren Inflation auch im Mai 2026, EZB reagiert verfrüht

Abstract

Die deutsche Inflationsrate ist im Mai 2026 um 0,3 Prozentpunkte auf 2,6 % gesunken. Ausschlaggebend war der Tankrabatt, wobei der durch den Iran-Krieg ausgelöste Energiepreisschock weiterhin für den deutlichen Anstieg der Inflation seit Jahresbeginn verantwortlich ist. Die Kernrate nahm etwas zu, während sich der Preisauftrieb bei Nahrungsmitteln, Alkohol und Tabak merklich verringerte. Die HVPI-Inflation fiel mit 2,7 % ebenfalls geringer aus als zuvor und lag insbesondere wegen des Tankrabatts unter der des Euroraums (3,2 %). Infolge der Entlastung bei den Kraftstoffpreisen und der geringeren Teuerung bei Lebensmitteln sind die haushaltsspezifischen Inflationsraten von Familien mit geringeren und mittleren Einkommen besonders stark gefallen, und zwar um 0,5 bzw. 0,4 Prozentpunkte auf 2,4 % und 2,6 %. Die am 11. Juni 2026 beschlossene Zinserhöhung der EZB war verfrüht. Statt die Märkte mit ökonomischem Sachverstand einzuhegen, scheint sich die EZB aktuell von den Markterwartungen leiten zu lassen, anstatt ihnen Orientierung zu geben. Der durch den Iran-Krieg ausgelöste Energiepreisschock erhöht nicht nur die Inflation, sondern belastet auch die Wirtschaft im Euroraum erheblich. Derzeit ist nicht absehbar, ob der Preisschock temporär bleibt oder länger anhält, geschweige denn, ob es nennenswerte Zweitrundeneffekte geben wird. Daher fehlt derzeit ein hinreichender ökonomischer Grund, die Konjunktur zusätzlich zu bremsen.
