Abstract

Exploitant deux enquêtes de l'Insee (2006), l'Enquête Emploi et l'Enquête Système d'Information sur les Nouvelles Entreprises, l'article met en évidence la proximité existant entre les appuis à l'obtention d'un emploi et à la création d'entreprise. L'hypothèse défendue est que chaque type d'appui (compter sur soi, sur ses réseaux de relations ou sur une institution dédiée) correspond à une façon particulière d'évaluer les personnes et les projets. Les institutions dédiées mènent une évaluation normalisée et accompagnent les chômeurs vers l'emploi ; les réseaux, en privilégiant des repères personnalisés, permettent aux étrangers et aux personnes peu diplômés d'accéder à un emploi. Les démarches individuelles privilégient les signaux visibles et concernent plutôt des hommes, des personnes diplômées ou expérimentées. Ce n'est pas le statut de l'emploi (indépendant ou salarié) qui explique le recours à tel ou tel appui, mais le profil socio-économique des individus.
