Aggregation methods for intercountry comparisons of prices and real values in agriculture : a review and synthesis

Abstract

Dans cet article, on considère les approches alternatives permettant des comparaisons internationales cohérentes de prix, de quantités et de productivité dans le secteur agricole. Les indices bilatéraux comparent les prix et les quantités entre deux pays, alors que les indices multilatéraux permettent de construire des indices de valeurs réelles, de parités de pouvoir d'achat (PPA) et de productivité entre un large nombre de pays à une période donnée. Les auteurs décrivent les propriétés empiriques et théoriques des principaux indices multilatéraux et examinent comment ces différents indices affectent les résultats empiriques dans la comparaison de la production réelle en agriculture de dix pays européens et des Etats-Unis d'Amérique. Ils proposent ensuite un ensemble de PPA pour l'agriculture qui peut être utilisé dans la comparaison des agrégats de la production réelle agricole.
