Abstract

[eng] Devaluation and competitivity in Côte D'Ivoire. . This paper assesses the short-run effects on competitivity and output of the 100 per cent nominal devaluation of the CFA franc. We estimate with a computable general equili­brium model the degree of the real devaluation under different assumptions concerning elasticities, public expenditures and wage indexation. The effect on output is positive, whatever the value of the elasticities. More significant is the role played by the real wage. However the mid-long run effects remain to be studied. [fre] Cet article examine les effets de court terme de la dévaluation nominale de 100 % du franc CFA sur la compétitivité et l'activité. Nous évaluons à l'aide d'un modèle d'équilibre général, le degré de dévaluation réelle attendu sous différentes hypothèses concernant les élasticités d'offre et de demande et la résistance sala­riale. L'effet sur l'activité est positif. Ce résultat est robuste par rapport aux hypo­thèses d'élasticités de demande. Une variable clé est l'ajustement du salaire réel. Cependant, les enjeux de moyen terme demeurent.
