Empleo y los cuidadores domésticos no remunerados en Colombia

Abstract

Este documento aborda el cuidado de las personas en el hogar en Colombia desde una perspectiva económica. Para ello, en primer lugar, se presenta una síntesis del marco conceptual vigente sobre las decisiones laborales dentro de un hogar. En segundo lugar, utilizando información de la Encuesta Nacional de Calidad de Vida 2019 y contrastando con estudios previos tanto de Colombia como de otros países, se caracteriza la población cuidadora. Posteriormente se cuantifica la penalidad asociada a ser cuidador en términos del mercado laboral (participación y salarios), y se presentan posibles razones detrás de las diferencias observadas.
