¿Al fin qué ha pasado con la distribución del ingreso en Colombia?

Abstract

"La distribución del ingreso ha sido un tema de gran controversia en 'Colombia desde hace algunos anos. La razón es que las diferentes metodologías de corrección de los problemas de truncamiento de ingresos que presenta la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares han conducido a diversas conclusiones en ocasiones opuestas, acerca, de las tendencias recientes de la distribución del ingreso en Colombia. Esta sección del Análisis Coyuntural presenta las cifras más recientes de distribución de ingreso calculadas con base en una metodología de destruncamiento disenada por el Departamento Nacional de Planeación. Aunque el procedimiento es en esencia ad-hoc, sus propiedades estadísticas son superiores a las de las metodologías alternativas. Por ejemplo al utilizar la metodología tradicional que supone que los ingresos siguen una distribución log-normal a partir de los datos de una encuesta censurada artificialmente, se sobrestima el valor del ingreso promedio del quintil más rico en 9.5% y el coeficiente de Gini en 2.44%. Bajo la metodología del DNP, el valor promedio se sobrestima en 0.9% y el coeficiente de Gini tan solo en 0.07%. Finalmente, cabe senalar que se utilizan tres tipos de ingresos para calcular los indicadores de distribución: ingreso laboral, ingreso no laboral e ingreso per cápita del hogar"
