Abstract

The present paper aims to achieve a reflection on the social and political difficulties which the Import Substitution Industrialization (ISI) model experienced in Colombia. Throughout the text, is being made a route about of the different problems faced by the country among 1950 and 1980 where the agrarian problem, the armed conflict and the lack of an economic elite that favored an industrialization process appear as obstacles in the Colombian industrialization process. By last, it is concluded that these difficulties do not allow to consolidate a strong internal market, a fundamental factor for industrialization process.
