INTEGRACIÓN ESPACIAL DEL MERCADO DE LA PAPA EN EL VALLE DEL CAUCA: Dos aproximaciones diferentes, una misma conclusión

Este documento estudia la integración espacial del mercado de la papa parda pastusa para el Valle del Cauca. Para tal fin, se emplean datos semanales para el periodo 2003:52 - 2005:42. A partir de un análisis tradicional de cointegración y una aproximación novedosa que implica el cálculo de la cohesión de las series (sugerido por Croux, Forni y Reichlin (2001)), se concluye que este mercado se encuentra integrado espacialmente para el Valle. Se encuentra que la correlación dinámica entre los mercados tiende a ser más grandes en el largo plazo que para periodos cortos como menos de dos semanas y media. Se concluye que cambios en los precios del mercado de Cali `anteceden´ a los precios de ciudades como Armenia, Bogotá, Manizales y Pasto, lo cual brinda evidencia a favor que el mercado de Cali actúa como el mercado centro"."
