Violencia de pareja y estado de salud de la mujer en Colombia

Abstract

Este trabajo busca identificar los determinantes de la percepción del estado de salud de la mujer en Colombia, haciendo énfasis en las variables relacionadas con la violencia de pareja, a partir de los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Demografía y Salud (2010). Los resultados muestran que para las mujeres víctimas de violencia de pareja aumenta la probabilidad de percibir un estado de salud regular y malo, en comparación con las no agredidas. Las estimaciones regionales, arrojan diferencias en el tipo de violencia que causa mayor impacto en la percepción de la salud. Adicionalmente se encontró que vivir en la zona urbana, tener acueducto y gas natural en la vivienda, tener un mayor cargo laboral, estar afiliada a los regímenes contributivo y especial, así como estar ubicada en estratos socioeconómicos más altos y tener mayor nivel educativo, están asociados a una percepción favorable de la salud por parte de la mujer.******ABSTRACT: This paper identifies the determinants of perceived health status of women in Colombia, with emphasis on variables related to partner abuse. The data used are of the National Demographic and Health Survey (2010). The results show that for women victims of partner abuse increases the likelihood of perceiving to regulate and poor health, compared with non-abused. Regional estimates show differences in the type of violence that cause greater impact on the perception of health. Additionally, the results show that the women that living in urban areas, have water and natural gas in the home, have greater job title, have membership to the contributory and special regimes, be located in higher socioeconomic strata and have more education, are associated with a favorable perception of health.
