El impacto de la educaci�n econ�mica y financiera en los j�venes: el caso de finanzas para el cambio

Abstract

En esta investigaci�n se emplea la metodolog�a del propensity score matching para estimar el impacto a corto plazo de un programa de educaci�n econ�mica y financiera (EEF) sobre los conocimientos, habilidades, actitudes, capacidades y comportamientos econ�micos de 1.518 estudiantes de secundaria. Los resultados de esta evaluaci�n de impacto indican que el programa incrementa el nivel de conocimientos econ�micos y financieros de los j�venes pero no sus habilidades para poner en pr�ctica lo aprendido. Adem�s, se encuentra que las actitudes y capacidades de los estudiantes frente a la EEF son favorables aunque independientes de la participaci�n en el programa. No se encuentra ning�n impacto sobre los comportamientos a corto plazo, pero es probable que esto obedezca a que el cambio en la conducta s�lo se puede observar una vez estos j�venes ingresen al mercado laboral. Se concluye que es necesario hacer ajustes al programa para potenciar su impacto en habilidades, actitudes y capacidades, que de acuerdo con la teor�a, s� deber�an cambiar en el corto plazo.
