O que causa a criminalidade violenta no Brasil? Uma análise a partir do modelo econômico do crime: 1981 a 1996

Abstract

Neste artigo são abordados os determinantes econômicos e demográficos das taxas de homicídios abrangendo estados da federação no período de 1981 a 1996. As informações sócioeconômicas utilizadas são extraídas dos microdados de seis Pesquisas Nacional por Amostragem de Domicílios do IBGE. As taxas de homicídios são tabuladas a partir dos microdados do Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade do DATASUS. São empregadas técnicas econométricas que exploram a característica de painel das duas bases de dados construídas, das quais utiliza variáveis tabuladas por estado e período e a outra por estado, período e coorte. São realizados exercícios de decomposição das taxas de homicídios em efeitos idade, período e coorte e são estimados os determinantes econômicos e demográficos dessas taxas com base no modelo econômico do crime.
