Estimación del crecimiento potencial de la economía española: una revisión metodológica

Abstract

Este documento presenta una revisión metodológica para la estimación del producto interno bruto potencial de la economía española. La revisión se basa en tres novedades principales. En primer lugar, un análisis más granular de las fuentes del crecimiento, que tiene en cuenta los componentes de utilización de la capacidad productiva y la composición de los factores productivos (capital y trabajo). En segundo lugar, la estimación conjunta de un modelo de vector autorregresivo bayesiano con tendencias comunes, que permite explotar la relación entre las variables del mercado laboral. Finalmente, se incluyen algunas modificaciones como el tratamiento específico del período del COVID-19 y la ampliación del grupo de población activa, con el objetivo de reflejar de manera más realista la participación laboral esperada en un contexto de retraso en la edad efectiva de jubilación. Las estimaciones obtenidas apuntan a un crecimiento potencial en los años más recientes superior al estimado con anterioridad, consecuencia fundamentalmente de unas dinámicas poblacionales más positivas de lo esperado.
