Abstract

This paper discusses the legacy of the institutionalist thought in the face of Veblen, Commons and Mitchell contributions. The remarkable complexity and scope of these contributions, despite being characterized by a still incipient theoretical content, is an important source of interaction with various approaches, allowing to further the institutionalist research agenda. We discuss here the interactions between institutionalists, evolutionaries and post-keynesians. Such a discussion shows that institutionalism is more comprehensive than suggests the relevant contribution of transaction cost economics.
