Abstract

Freiräume gewinnen für eine nachhaltige und resiliente Raumentwicklung zunehmend an Bedeutung. Umso wichtiger ist es, der Freiraumsicherung und -entwicklung in der räumlichen Planung einen neuen Stellenwert zu geben. Im Beitrag wird deshalb für eine "Freiraumwende" plädiert. Das Einleitungskapitel befasst sich zunächst mit der rechtlichen Einordnung des Begriffs und einer rahmengebenden Freiraum-Definition. Damit einher geht die Erarbeitung eines gemeinsamen Verständnisses der aktuellen Aufgaben einer strategisch ausgerichteten Freiraumsicherung und -entwicklung in der räumlichen Planung auf überörtlicher und örtlicher Ebene.
