Abstract

Until a couple of decades ago, employers made great efforts to foster organizational commitment (OC) among their employees in order to secure the stay and continuance of employees’ contributions in the face of high demand for labor, work alienation and temptations to exit and move to other employers. Thus, it is not surprising that many studies were focused on the effect of transactional OC on employee turnover (Gardner, 1992; Cohen, 1993; Ingersoll et al., 2000; Mowday et al., 1979; Reilly and Orsak, 1991)…
