Abstract

It’s tempting after this journeyed excursion through what is and what could be to side with Oscar Wilde and his priceless observation that “we’re all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars”. Alternatively, we may find ourselves overwhelmed by the universe of possibilities between what’s real today and what we could ideally be doing with all that we have atour disposal. This sense of awe at the monumental task ahead of us could make us inclined to herald Mark Twain’s advice to “not put off until tomorrow what can be put off till day-after-tomorrow just as well”. Truthfully, this book isn’t going to mandate urgency like many voices have felt compelled to do. In line with the philosophy expressed throughout, I believe the greatest change emanates from motivation within. This means I‘ve focused my energy on inspiring you to seek new horizons and inviting you to reflect on what is state of the art today. II’m certain the material in this book beautifully applies to the many strategies deployed at containing COVID-19 and their varied effectiveness in yielding desired results. As with all things, many different paths lead us to the destination, each coming with its own advantages and drawbacks. How the pandemic and narrative in this book will shape our fates, then, is truly in our hands. As a global professional speaker and keen observer of people, I’ve come to believe that we can truly tackle any challenge once we choose to accept and want what the world needs from us…
