A Scientometric Analysis on Employee Well-Being in Management Sciences

Abstract

The paper applies scientometric techniques to study the current state of interest in employee well-being issues. The study covered the period from 1989 till the end of 2023. The VOSviewer program was used to carry out keyword mapping, as well as the co-authorship analysis. An analysis of journals published in two WoS Categories: Management and Business was also conducted to determine which of them are the best source of knowledge on employee well-being, and at the same time offer the greatest potential for publishing and disseminating knowledge in the future. Results illustrate that employee well-being is most often considered in the context of human resource management, job satisfaction, job performance, and work engagement. The interest in this field among scientists from Management and Business areas is still in the relatively early stage of development, and the cooperation between authors is local in nature. The published paper has a multidisciplinary character and appears primarily in journals classified simultaneously in the Business/Management and Psychology categories. The top 3 are “Personnel Review”, “International Journal of Human Resource Management”, and “European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology”. It can be hypothesized that in the coming years this trend will continue.
