Abstract

Tourism in Mexico City, a bustling metropolis rich in cultural and historical attractions, often suffers from disorganization and information overload from the most used sources of online reviews. To address these challenges, we propose a Progressive Web Application (PWA) designed to streamline the tourism experience and improve it for visitors. This innovative solution aggregates reviews from multiple public opinion platforms and electronic word-of-mouth sources, consolidating them into comprehensive, single reviews for each attraction. Our research is based on an extensive dataset compiled from two prominent online platforms: TripAdvisor and Google Maps. We collected 1,000 reviews from TripAdvisor and 9,000 reviews from Google Maps, covering 1,908 distinct touristic locations in Mexico City. This dual-source approach leverages the unique characteristics of each platform: TripAdvisor's travel-specific content and Google Maps’ broader user base and location integration. The application highlights key points of interest, ensuring that tourists receive the most relevant and concise information distilled from this vast array of user experiences. By integrating advanced data aggregation techniques with this rich corpus of reviews and employing a user-friendly design, this PWA aims to enhance the efficiency and enjoyment of exploring Mexico City. The substantial volume and diversity of our dataset provide a solid foundation for developing a tool that can significantly improve the organization and satisfaction of the tourism experience in this vibrant city.
