Quality criteria, tourism industry requirements, students’ competences, required skills, curriculums, stakeholders’ interests, and many factors have been touched based this research and in course of its processing. In turn, to reveal the current state of quality fitness of graduates’ higher education to the needs of industry and identification of important criteria determining quality and competitiveness of higher education in the field of tourism and hospitality, a survey was held both among the students and the industry representatives. The survey’s results revealed some gaps existing between higher education and the genuine requirement of tourism industry employment in Azerbaijan. To positively address the problems identified in the result of the research and maintain the quality of higher education in this field, the authors considered several practical decisions.
