Towards the Integration of Social, Economic and Ecological Knowledge

Abstract

In his book Toward a Science of Man in Society, K. William Kapp explored the possibilities for integration across the social and natural sciences and for greater coherence across the disciplines constituting the social sciences. His basic thesis explained the separate qualities of the physical (inanimate matter), biological (living organism) and social (human society) realities, but also proposed possibilities for linking knowledge and for how integration could be made feasible. In this chapter I will relate aspects of this work to ecological economics.
