Abstract

La capacitación en el trabajo constituye un elemento fundamental que incrementa la productividad de los trabajadores a lo largo del ciclo de vida. En este capítulo se estudian los retornos de la capacitación laboral en el Perú con datos de la década de 2000. Encontramos que el retorno de la capacitación laboral en el Perú, si bien es muy heterogéneo al depender del centro de estudios y del nivel educativo del trabajador, es positivo; aunque este sistema tiene limitaciones estructurales que han empujado a un equilibrio ineficiente y sub-óptimo, donde los trabajadores cargan con la mayor parte de los costos de capacitación y asisten, en su mayoría, a las instituciones menos eficientes. Se propone un esquema de subsidios a la educación continua para incrementar la capacitación laboral en el Perú.
