Abstract

Der Aufsatz untersucht mittels einer panelökonometrischen Analyse die Auswirkungen von Sponsorhip-Verkündungen auf die Aktienkurse fünf großer Sportartikelhersteller. Trotz der Verwendung einer umfangreichen Datenbasis, einer aufwendigen Modellierung mittels eines SURE-Ansatzes und der Berücksichtigung mehrerer möglicher Modellvarianten, zeigen sich keine signifikanten Effekte der Sponsorship-Verkündigungen auf die betrachteten Aktienkurse. Ungeachtet der weiterhin großen Bedeutung des Sportsponsorings sowohl für das Werbebudget der Unternehmen als auch für den Sport als Zahlungsempfänger, scheint somit eine messbare Auswirkung von Sponsoring-Aktivitäten eher auf der unmittelbaren Kundengewinnung als auf das Verhalten rationaler Investoren nachweisbar zu sein.
