COVID-19-Krise – Aufholprozess nach tiefem Einbruch im Frühjahr 2020. Entwicklung von Warenproduktion, Außenhandel und Investitionen im Jahr 2020

Abstract

Infolge der COVID 19 Krise ging der österreichische Warenaußenhandel 2020 deutlich zurück. Auf den kräftigen Einbruch während der ersten COVID-19-Welle im Frühjahr folgte in den Sommermonaten ein Rebound. Die neuerliche Verschärfung der behördlichen Maßnahmen im Herbst dämpfte die Erholung nur leicht. Diesem unterjährigen Verlauf entsprach auch die Entwicklung der Warenproduktion, wobei die Krise Hersteller von Konsumgütern des nicht täglichen Bedarfs am stärksten traf. Große Einbußen gab es auch in der Kfz-Branche, der Metallerzeugung und Metallbearbeitung, dem Maschinenbau sowie in der Herstellung von elektrischen Ausrüstungen. Der COVID-19-Schock im Frühjahr führte zu einem abrupten Anstieg der unternehmerischen Unsicherheit und einem deutlichen Konjunktureinbruch, der durch einen merklichen Rückgang der Kapazitätsauslastung gekennzeichnet war. Im Zuge der folgenden Erholung reduzierte sich allmählich auch die Unsicherheit der heimischen Unternehmen. Die COVID-19-Krise ließ 2020 auch die Investitionstätigkeit einbrechen. Die einzelnen Teilbereiche entwickelten sich jedoch stark unterschiedlich. Während die Ausrüstungsinvestitionen kräftig abnahmen, resultierten technologische Entwicklungen in einem schwachen Anstieg der immateriellen Anlageinvestitionen.
