Abstract

Eine weitere Fristverlängerung für den Austritt des Vereinigten Königreichs aus der EU verhindert einen "No Deal Brexit". Der Europäische Rat einigt sich auf einen Vorschlag für die Besetzung der Spitzenposten in der Europäischen Union. Chinas Ministerpräsident Li Keqiang wirbt in Europa für die Initiative "One Belt, One Road", die "Neue Seidenstraße". Ostmitteleuropäische Länder, darunter 17 EU-Mitgliedsländer, zeigen großes Interesse an den massiven Infrastrukturinvestitionen Chinas. Der Außenhandelskonflikt zwischen den USA und dem Iran wird unter Androhung weiterer Sanktionen der USA gegenüber dem Iran und den in den Iran exportierenden Ländern fortgeführt. Auf die Verhängung von Importzöllen auf Waren aus China reagiert China mit weiteren Strafzöllen auf Importe aus den USA. Mexiko ratifiziert als erstes Land das NAFTA-Nachfolgeabkommen USMCA. – Um die Leistungen der Sozialhilfe österreichweit zu harmonisieren, beschließt der Nationalrat ein neues Sozialhilfe-Grundsatzgesetz. Nach der Auflösung der Bundesregierung in Österreich und der Einsetzung einer Übergangsregierung werden am 29. September 2019 Neuwahlen zum Nationalrat stattfinden. Teile der im Mai 2019 angekündigten Steuerreform könnten noch im Juli im Nationalrat beschlossen werden.
