Application of LISREL to the analysis of students’ performance

Abstract

Para estudiar las relaciones de causalidad de las numerosas variables que influyen en el rendimiento estudiantil, se dispone de una técnica estadística multivariante, el LISREL. En el trabajo se exponen, en forma concisa, los modelos lineales estructurales y se ilustra la aplicación del LISREL en el análisis del rendimiento estudiantil. Luego de aplicar la técnica estadística, se encuentra que las variables escogidas para el análisis son buenos indicadores, el rendimiento en los dos primeros semestres de estudios universitarios es un buen predictor del rendimiento posterior, el factor aptitudinal es el que tiene mayor influencia en el rendimiento estudiantil y tanto la preparación que tiene el estudiante al entrar a la universidad como el factor socioeconómico, influyen directamente sobre el factor aptitudinal e indirectamente (a través de éste), sobre el rendimiento estudiantil.
