Abstract

This paper aims to investigate wage discrimination between men and women in the Center-West region of Brazil. For that, the wage decomposition of Oaxaca-Blinder was made from the microdata of the PNADs 2003 and 2013. It was verified that: i) education and work experience contributed positively to higher wage levels, however, male wages were higher than the female ones and the wage gap for sex increased in the region; ii) a portion of this differential is attributed to the discriminant factor; iii) there was an increase in wage discrimination between genders in the region, contrary to what happened at the national level; and (iv) differences and wage discrimination between non-white men and women were lower than white and rose to the two skin color groups.
