Conmutación de larga distancia en Chile: Estimando el premio por trabajar muy lejos de casa

Abstract

La conmutación de larga distancia (CLD) cobra importancia producto de la continua reducción en costos de transporte. Este trabajo formaliza la relación CLD y salario mediante un modelo de búsqueda de trabajo que incluye el tiempo conmutado. Se plantea que la CLD es compensada en salario, creciente en distancia, y las regiones con mayor flujo de conmutantes deben pagar mayor premio. Los resultados muestran un premio de 19% para quienes ejercen CLD dependiendo del destino del conmutante, superando en algunos casos el 40%. Simultáneamente regiones con mayor atracción de conmutantes son aquellas que ofrecen mayor premio.
