Abstract

The article examines container flow dynamics in the Baltic ports of Klaipeda, Riga, and Tallinn, emphasizing their impact on sustainable port development. Using statistical data from 2005–2024, the study applies the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) model and Pearson Correlation analysis to forecast container handling volumes up to 2030. The methodology incorporates three scenarios—baseline, optimistic, and pessimistic—to assess the potential effects of geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors on port performance. The findings reveal Klaipeda as the regional leader in growth rate, followed by Riga and Tallinn, with all ports demonstrating strong positive correlations in container throughput trends. These results indicate systemic interdependence among Baltic ports, suggesting that coordinated regional strategies could enhance resilience and sustainability. The study highlights that integrating traditional statistical tools with sustainability perspectives supports informed infrastructure planning, energy efficiency improvements, and the development of green logistics systems.
