Regionaler Anteil kariesfreier Vorschulkinder – eine cluster-randomisierte Studie in Südhessen –

Abstract

Die Zahngesundheit von Vorschulkindern hat sich in den letzten 30 Jahren regional unterschiedlich, aber stetig verbessert. In der vorliegenden Studie aus dem Jahr 2009 beispielsweise ergab sich ein Anteil kariesfreier Dreijähriger in Südhessen von nahezu 90 %. Dieser Anteil kariesfreier Kinder eignet sich als Prävalenzmaß für Vergleiche und Trendbeobachtungen und damit auch zur Bewertung regionaler gruppenprophylaktischer Interventionen. Insgesamt ist die Zahl kariesepidemiologischer Studien in Deutschland in den Altersgruppen 3 bis 5 im Vergleich zu solchen bei Schulkindern aber gering und damit Trendbeobachtungen erschwert. Da fast alle diese Studien in Kindergärten durchgeführt werden, ist die einstufige Clusterstichprobe ein typisches Studiendesign, das bei der Fallzahlplanung und der Datenauswertung berücksichtigt werden sollte, um adäquate Vergleiche zu ermöglichen.
