Abstract

Agriculture is one of the important branches of the national economy. This, until 1989, represented a dynamic branch that had a sustained contribution to the realization of the gross domestic product. After 1989, by the degradation of agro-industry applied the share of agriculture in the formation of gross domestic product decreased. The authors analyze how Romania’s arable land has become ineffective. From this point of view, we find that in this area Romania has regressed because the farms (agricultural cooperatives or state agricultural enterprises) that gave the essence and possibility of sustained development of agriculture disappeared. When talking about agriculture, we refer to the grain production sector, field productions, but also to the livestock sector. Gradually, gradually receiving subsidies from the European Union, Romania rethought and there is the prospect of a reorientation in the realization of farms to make the activity more efficient. The authors analyze in this article, based on the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics on the basis of the structural survey on agriculture, to highlight the current state of Romania and the way in which agriculture faces some difficulties, but also the idea that perspective can reach a positive net situation. The data highlighted the concern for the restoration of agricultural holdings to a level of adequate size that would ensure the exploitation efficiency in agriculture.
