Abstract

Abstract The Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) are defined as the set of elements involved in the process of Knowledge Management (KM), with the aim of improving the different activities carried out in institutions of higher education, thus optimizing the decision-making process, the design of curricula, the development of research, academic and administrative activities, reduce operating costs, among others, and gain a sustainable competitive advantage over time. To do this, you need to manage knowledge effectively and optimize its processes. Therefore, to carry out successfully the implementation of these systems, it is important to know what factors influence to make an accurate assessment of the success or effectiveness of the GC. The key success factors (CSF's) have been investigated in many studies, but few have been directed to higher education institutions. The aim of this study is to classify the CSF's to be taken into account when starting the process of GC and throughout the process, in institutions of higher education. The research is exploratory, field and descriptive type. The sample consisted of 13 experts of a total of 14 people, who participated directly in the process of KM, in two public institutions, located in Caracas, Venezuela. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a set of elements to be taken into account throughout the process KM.
