Abstract

ABSTRACT: The recent economic crisis has accentuated the decrease of the traffic supported by the different Port Authorities in our country, during the last decades. In this context of budgetary restrictions, the financial managers of ports infrastructures should be more selective and enhance the most efficient and leader ports in their environment. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the efficiency of the Spanish ports, grouped in different geographical areas, in order to identify the most efficient ports in those regions. Such analysis is performed using DEA methodology with tolerances, which allows the introduction of uncertainty in the analysis.
