Determinacion del capital economico requerido para cubrir el riesgo de desastres naturales en Veracruz, Mexico: Un enfoque de copulas arquimedianas

Abstract

El cambio climatico y diversos fenomenos meteorologicos han ocasionado grandes catastrofes en Mexico, principalmente en aquellos estados y municipios vulnerables a este tipo de fenomenos. El presente trabajo desarrolla un modelo estocastico para valuar un derivado climatico, en el cual se supone que las temperaturas maxima y minima y la precipitacion son las unicas variables que describen un desastre hidrometeorologico por inundacion, huracan o ciclon en el municipio de Poza Rica, Veracruz. Esto se hace a traves de simulaciones de copulas elipticas del tipo normal y copulas arquimedianas del tipo Gumbel. Asimismo, se desarrolla un indicador de vulnerabilidad mediante el nivel de urbanizacion y cantidad de poblacion. Por ultimo, se determina el capital minimo que el Fondo de Desastres Naturales (FONDEN) debe mantener para hacer frente a un evento. Los resultados muestran que las simulaciones de copulas normales con valores extremos en las distribuciones marginales presentan el mejor ajuste.
