Abstract

. Classification JEL : G21, L2 [eng] The mutual and cooperative financial sector : what future ? . The author analyses the evolution of the mutual sector with a pluralistic vision of the firm’s organisation and its economic, social and democratic contents. The mutual and cooperative sector constitutes an alternative voice in an economic and « ultra-liberal » financial management. It can establish a market regulation by a more important role entrusted to the members or the workers in the definition of needs and contents of investments and in the affectation of savings. The author examines however the various aspects which characterise this sector, its own brakes, its positive and negative evolutions, its constraints and its differences with capital stock firms. .
