Abstract

[eng] The aim of the article is to explain how standardization through ISO could labeled the rationale while, on the same time, being the instrument for valadeting the rationale of modern practices of management. The theory of conventions is used to analyse managerial literature on the subject. The standardisation gives rise to three of the basis for modern management. First, it is a vehicle for a shared beliefs regarding the constraints created by the economic environment. Secondly, it modifies corporate governance while creating a rationale for these changes. Finally, it is a system of measurement and evaluation of new practices of management. Once this triple level of analysis as been identified, it is then possible to deduct that, within the grid of the conventionalist theory understanding, standardization could be considered as the root of the underlying structural modifications of the firms.
