Une explication de l'évolution de la productivité horaire du travail

Abstract

[fre] Dans le diagnostic délicat qu'un budget économique comporte pour l'emploi futur et les éventuelles tensions de la demande globale sur l'offre, la prévision de la productivité apparente du travail constitue un élément évidemment essentiel. Or cette prévision peut faire question actuellement : alors que le rythme de progression s'était relevé sensiblement depuis 1968, doit-on s'attendre à un maintien des taux élevés constatés au cours des dernières années ou à un retour plus ou moins progressif vers ceux qui prévalaient antérieurement? Comme pour les autres questions touchant notre évolution économique, la réponse ne peut venir que d'une analyse qui détecte les divers facteurs influençant le phénomène et qui, pour connaître le rôle joué par chacun d'entre eux, tire parti de l'étude du passé. Au stade actuel du développement scientifique, cette double recherche qui vise à identifier les facteurs importants et à quantifier leur impact est menée par l'économétrie grâce à laquelle les connaissances s'accumulent et s'organisent progressivement.
