Abstract

[eng] Effects of increased input intensivity and factor substitution in French agriculture, according to Rica data (1970-1978), . by Philippe Bedin, Pascal Buffard, Pierre Pinon. . The paper is a contribution to the French debate on "Productivism" in agriculture. Following permanent samples of farms over time, after ranking them according to changes in their factor allocation, it can be observed that farms becoming more input intensive per hectare or capital intensive per unit of labor, would get better economic results than average. . The method used is an empirical Markov chain analysis. . Data are taken from Rica (Réseau d'information comptable agricole) for the period 1970-1978.
