L’élasticité calorie-revenu est-elle faible au Niger ?

Abstract

En mettant l’accent sur les liens entre d’une part la consommation en calorie et d’autre part le revenu et l’accès aux sources d’approvisionnement des ménages, ce travail explore le rôle des politiques de croissance ou de transfert de revenu sur la sécurité alimentaire au Niger. Deux résultats importants ressortent des estimations économétriques effectuées. D’une part, il apparaît que l’accès aux sources d’approvisionnement est un déterminant potentiel du niveau de sécurité alimentaire. D’autre part conformément à la littérature récente, l’impact de la variation du revenu sur l’apport calorique dépend du niveau initial de la consommation calorique du ménage et décroît avec le niveau de sécurité alimentaire.
