Qualitative Research on Marine Environmental Impact on Fisheries: A Case Study of Hong Kong’s 10-Year Commercial Fishing Ban

This research examines Hong Kong’s fishing ban from a holistic and chronological perspective. It presents the reasons and causes for the implementation of the ban and examines the impacts and consequences following the implementation of the ban. Finally, it will investigate and present management techniques utilized by other countries and regions to address the same issue of fish ecology destruction.The research findings indicate that fish ecology destruction has been a serious issue in Hong Kong in recent years, and the fishing ban has addressed that issue to some degree. However, the ban’s top-down approach and lack of stakeholders’ involvement obstruct it from achieving all aims while minimizing the effects on stakeholders.
