Abstract

This article focuses on the importance of the analysis of public auctions in the study of wine prices. The various characteristics and contributions of public auctions are listed and analysed, which allows the uninitiated reader to discover the domain of this type of sales intended mainly for the range of top wines seen as luxury products. These characteristics also remind the knowledgeable reader about the rules that govern public auctions from which specific information may be deduced to be able to explain certain trends concerning wine prices linked with the economic environment which is getting increasingly difficult.
