Constraints to Online Teaching in Institutes of Higher Education during Pandemic COVID-19: A Case Study of CUI, Abbottabad Pakistan

Abstract

Pandemic of Covid-19 has resulted in complete or partial lockdown of countries around the golbe. Institutes of Higher Education in most of the developed nations were quick to offer online courses due to availabilty of better infrastructure and better equipped learning management systems. The universitites in developing countries are facing much more problems while shifting to online education system. The range of these problems include connectivity issues for the students due to week intrastucture, capacity constraints at the universitites itself where faculty needs proper training to use the softwares for online courses delivery and a range of other issues that need to be addressed for an effective course delivery. COMSATS University Islamaabad Abbottabad Campus is adopting to this new challenge by training its faculty members and fiding a combination of synchornous and asynchronous modes of education alongwith the use of a combination of differnet softwares and android apps to reachout to the students residing in far off areas of rual Pakistan and Afghanistan.
