Renuncia silenciosa. Consideraciones conceptuales sobre un fenómeno emergente

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has undermined many of the principles that governed the world of work. Alongside the so-called Great Resignation, another concerning phenomenon has begun to emerge in the past year, labeled quiet quitting. Since this is a novel issue with limited empirical research, the present paper aims to provide some conceptual clarifications regarding the construct of quiet quitting and to develop theoretical assumptions about its relationships with other forms of organizational behavior that could emerge as significant predictors. In this regard, it focuses on proposing hypothetical links with organizational cynicism, job embeddedness, job satisfaction, work engagement, commitment, and organizational justice. The essay concludes by suggesting some lines of research that, as an agenda, may guide future studies on this topic
